Asymmetric Magazine: Tell us about this series.
Cory Patterson: This body of work comes from my days this spring in LA. I really just spent time taking in the vibe of the ocean and the people and then visually [captured] it. I kinda let the city tell itself.
AM: We featured a previous photo series you did in Oceanside. So, how does traveling to different locations impact your work?
CP: It allows you to include the small things that really put you in the moment!
AM: What's your favorite beach to surf and shoot in Southern California?
CP: Wherever the waves are! In LA–a little more north.
AM: If this series had a playlist, what music would be on it?
CP: Odesza's Summer's Gone album
AM: What can we expect to see from you next?
CP: I have some travels coming up all summer long, so it should get fun. I always get inspired to see and photograph new places!
