A touch of light

A touch of light

Asymmetric Magazine: Tell us about your contribution.
Emilie Nyström: Ever since I moved to LA five years ago from Stockholm Sweden, I’m constantly inspired by the people, the culture, the art, the music, and especially the ocean. Motion and emotion are two words that describe my vision. This story is how two worlds collide with their cultural differences but also their similarities.

AM: What inspires you the most?
EN: I’m inspired by light, and intrigued by the dark. My environment is my greatest influence. The ones who choose to go their own way, and the ones who dare to create their own universe. There are many things we are in control of in life, but [there's] even more that’s uncontrollable. I’m always seeking to embrace the undiscovered and untouched. I find at lot of inspiration from music that naturally expands my imagination, and to capture and freeze moments with my camera is my way of expressing my passion and myself.

AM: What else can we expect to see from you?
EN: I’m working on a few projects now. With my background in fashion from Stockholm, I want to explore fashion portrait photography more. I want to combine the minimalistic black and white scenes with the playful and vibrant colors of California nature and lifestyle. And I will continue seeking inspiration from the ocean and the people I meet.
